how to get upgraded flash player to work in Firefox?

Hi there.

I downloaded and installed the Ubuntu 8.04 .deb file from www.adobe.com.
It  is version 10.0.22.87-1.

In Firefox 3, under tools -> Add-Ons -> Plugins, I see "Shockwave Flash
version 9.0 r159", but no version 10 and nothing else that looks like
flash.

What have I missed? Is there some extra step I have to take to make
Firefox aware of the new plugin version?
