Worst-case, you might need to use the official ATI drivers to get full  
functionality from the card, such as 3D capabilities.  It's relatively  
easy to do so in Ubuntu.  In most cases, if it finds a video card not  
fully supported with open drivers, it will alert you that there are  
proprietary drivers available for your device.  In most cases, it's as  
simple as clicking the notification icon that appears, selecting the  
driver in the list that pops-up, clicking the Enable button and  
rebooting.

As mentioned before, you can always try out the Live CD first to be  
sure.
