printers for UBUNTU?

I have a Konica Minolta Magicolor 2430 DL.
It works out of the box in Ubuntu with the 2530 DL driver (ppd).
There is also a ppd for the 2430 DL that you can download from the
Konica Minolta website, but as far as I know, it is only recent for x86.
It is possible to get a working ppd for amd64 (my current cpu) but that
involves converting an rpm to a deb file + some source compilation.
That's too much hassle for a printer that already works the way I want
it to work.
