aptitude, apt-get and dpkg keep logs.  Admittedly, those logs can get cycled
out of existence.  You'd need to do something to keep them if you wanted
them a year down the road.  (both the aptitude and dpkg logs appear to be
configured in logrotate, the apt-get one doesn't seem to be on my system)
