According to these:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/+package/nvidia-glx-177
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/+package/nvidia-glx-173

Either 173 or 177 should word. But according to some of the 177 bug
reports, 173 seems to fix some issues:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-177
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-173

Alternately, you could try a driver direct from nVidia:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_180.22.html

Also see:

Do you have the Nvidia X Server program installed (nvidia-settings -
universe repository)? If so, you may be able to adjust the resolution
from that instead.

sudo apt-get install nvidia-settings

Afterwards you will find it under System|Administration|NVIDIA X Server
Settings.

Manual config:
http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/180.22/README/chapter-06-section-02.html
http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/180.22/README/appendix-b.html

And do as Leonard suggests and see if you still have the old xorg.conf
file in /etc/X11/
