Thanks for your explanations, I'll save them for future use. In my particular
case it will be easier to mount the disk in an old HP Netserver with a spare
IDE interface, save the disk image remotely, prepare the disk to boot an
installer for Ubuntu Server Edition and then remount it in the no longer
thin client. I had hoped LTSP might be an easy way to to boot a thin client
with my existing configuration.
