Failure to install gscan2pdf

Just did a generic build in vbox and updated:
Linux vboxtest 2.6.28-14-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Sat Jul 25 00:28:35 UTC
2009 i686 GNU/Linux

gscan2pdf installed with out trouble.

As Michael pointed out, trouble seems to be with the kernel adjustments.
Have you tried compiling from source (using make etc)?
