Xubuntu video display completely screwed

Thank you for responding.

I needed to use my laptop, so I reverted it to 8.10, which has no 
display problems.

The display does not work even when using the Jaunty live CD, so it is 
something inherent in how Jaunty uses the display drivers.

But I will have to just wait and hope future bug fixes will take care of 
it before attempting an upgrade.
