Should I buy a new graphics card or a new computer?

Yes, of course. It was working with the nVidia drive and 2 monitors 
(Ubuntu 8.10).

Yes, but the xserver starts in "low graphic mode" with only one monitor 
working.

I just copied the old xorg.conf file but this results in 2 black 
monitors when X starts :-(

Good idea, but I removed all nVidia drivers to get at least one monitor 
running with the nv driver, in a good resolution.

So, far I guess the log file will not help here......

The nv driver helped so far that I have now both monitors working -> in 
"low graphic mode" :-(

It looks like that I have to figure out which nVidia driver I need ....
