Hi,

pppconfig is included by default on 8.04 and has been in all previous 
versions I have used.
Always works for me, except in a case where a friend had a pre-paid 
phone account.

If he puts in the the modem port entry ttyACM3  it should work.  Not 
100% sure but think it
should be all uppercase.  Have an external usb modem on a laptop that 
works with  ttyACM0
As long as he leaves the "Provider" entry as is   pon to connect,   poff 
to disconnect.
