desktop shortcut to files

I know that for ntfs (I've not tried nfs for quite some time so don't
know if it is similar) the drives/partitions will automatically show up
if I automount them at startup via fstab. If not they will show up as
soon as I manually mount them (via Nautilus or cli) but obviously
disappear when unmounted.
