No Go.

I have tried Ubuntu, Ubuntu Alternate and Xubuntu with identical results, A 
screen split vertically in three columns. The background is tannish with 
segments of a graphic in each column. There is a drumlike sound when the 
split window coes up. The "Options" menu in the lower left of the screen is 
there and the menu will come up, however the selections will not work.
