I am assuming you have downloaded the "Desktop" version.  Try using the 
"Alternate" version.  Alternate is the same as the Desktop as far as 
packages go, however the "GUI Desktop" interface for installation is 
replaced with the standard CLI installer.  It may seem a bit 
intimidating, but I assure you it is very easy to install this way. 
Once you have completed installation, simply reboot as instructed and 
you should have the GUI loaded without any problems.
