Yes it was a printer as provided by the system-config-printer tool v 0.7.81.
Sorry, but there really aren't much more details to give, I mean since it
doesn't work anyway it doesn't matter which drivers I tested right? I also
tried OKI provided PPD file for C8800 but the printer only says "data time
out" (in japanese). It doesn't surprise me though, wrong driver -- no
printing.
