Was that a driver that you found in the System|Administration|Print
setup? Or was it a driver that you installed directly?  (details will
certainly help so that folks don't have to play guess the driver 1, 2, 3
with you - please).

Test prints from the print manager can often not work even in printers
with good PPD's. Try creating a PDF printer, print a file to that, and
then try printing to the C8600 and see if it works.
