Hey there Wade,

If you have a HP LaserJet 4050 plugged in through Ethernet and not USB, 
you're wasting your time using lsusb. If it is in fact plugged in via 
USB connection and lsusb doesn't even register the printer as being 
connected, you have a bigger problem. Can you paste the output of lsusb 
in your reply? Perhaps you have a dead port try plugging it in on 
another usb port opposing that one. Check the cabling and power to the 
printer. If that fails and you still have a 7.04 or 7.10 Live CD you can 
put it in and check out lsusb again (in the live environment) and see if 
it registers the printer. If it does, please copy the output of lsusb 
and share it here.
