  Xfix doesn't work...no matter what Kernel I boot. It always gives me
640x800

  I already know what Video chip I have..a very generic 865 which has
never given me problems before. However Ubuntu hardy uses the i810
driver...as opposed to the (older? newer?) intel drive which my Debian
Sid setup uses. I also went to the x.org wiki and following their FAQ
put the display size and modeline for 1680x1050 into the monitor section
of xorg.conf. No luck, it didn't like that at all.

I have decided to quit while I am ahead (behind?) and just boot into Sid
for now. Ubuntu was the first distro I ran back in the Warty days but
today it's Debian 1 Ubuntu 0.
Thanks to everyone here for trying to help. Maybe the next xorg update
will work.
