This is a table model nVidia computer running Hardy. Like most table
models it has a monitor plugged in. My monitor is a 17 inch KDS radius
liquid crystal monitor about 7 years old. It works just fine. Yes I do
turn the power off the monitor when I go to bed. The computer stays on.

I do not think it is a power problem since all is plugged into the
120 vac line.
