Package: linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic
Version: 2.6.27-7.10
Severity: normal

Used 'update-manager -d' to go from hardy to intrepid.
After the reboot, noticed that nm-applet was missing from panel.
Started it myself. It tried to get a wifi connection, despite there
being a wired connection already. Ctrl-C killed nm-applet.

Now I've got 100% cpu usage, and the top consumer is process
[ipw2200/0], a kernel module.

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
  2741 root 15 -5 0 0 0 R 94.2 0.0 7:58.42 ipw2200/0
  6038 root 20 0 222m 20m 8352 S 1.3 2.1 0:42.44 Xorg
  1919 root 15 -5 0 0 0 S 0.7 0.0 0:00.40 scsi_eh_1

I see other people had this problem in the past, but previous reports
were marked "insufficient information." I'm willing to run tests to
help figure this out, esp. if I'm not the only one.
