8.10 screen resolution messed up

Sorry, some more details:
Video/Graphics card is an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
I think my CPU is a 32 bit, I am running Ubuntu 8.10 32 bit on it just fine. But I'm not sure exactly if it is a 32 bit and I don't know how to find out.
