Problem with Ubuntu and router

I have the exact same problem on ubuntu 8.l0.
I have a wireless network. No security is activated.
It works fine for some time, but after a few minutes the conection is
really slow.
The signal is 100%.
I tryed to restart the network, but no succes.
Rebooting Ubuntu solves the problem, but is not really a solution...
However I identified when this heapens.
It heapens when I move from the room where I have 100% signal in a more
isoleted room.
But the problem is that when I return to the room with 100% signal, it
still works too slow.
I belive there is a problem with the speed that is autonegociated on
wireless networks(it goes down with the signal, but not up).
