Ubuntu freezes randomly

OpenOffice isn't RAM intensive?? You can't be serious! Sounds like the
problem I occasionally get. Try SSHing in from a laptop/other
computer, and

$ killall -9 compiz.real

Might get you your system back, but you'll have to relogin to get
wobbles etc back.
