Hi,
I have just bought an HCL Mileap laptop which is just a rebranded
Intel Classmate PC. The machine came with Ubuntu 7.10 and when we
connected the Lan cable it was not detecting the cable and the signal
lights were not turning on. The laptop however detected our wireless
network and we decided to upgrade to 8.04. However before the upgrade
started it warned that it could not authenticate some packages (I
remember seeing mplayer in the list) and reverted the system back to
the original state. However something bad must have happened because
now the system does not even list the wireless card in the Network
Manager applet. ifconfig only lists lo and eth5 and eth5 has the auto
ip assigned. I have both ubuntu 8.04 live and alternate CDs but the
laptop does not have a CD drive. The laptop has usb ports, I have a
1GB usb drive but no external USB CD Drives.
I need to somehow get the laptop to detect and use the network
interfaces and I also need to upgrade to hardy.
Can somebody please help me with this.
Thanks
Anoop
