VirtualBox causing big peaks in CPU

Thanks. By following this (in fact it contains the same infomation as pp. 
143-144 of the VirtualBox 1.6 User Manual) for editing
   /etc/fstab
and
   /etc/init.d/mountdevsubfs.sh
USB support is now working fine.

I am still not sure if the high CPU usage has gone away or not. I think it is 
still happening (you hear the fan) considerably more than with Ubuntu 7.10.
It is not to do with memory, I think. There is 2Gb in total, so even giving Win 
XP 384, as I now doing, leaves Ubuntu with plenty.
