    Hi Wade, I have a logitech webcam. In fact I have 2 of them and had 
to buy the second one because the first didn't work with Skype for some 
reason. But I got the second and it works fine.

    This to say that it is easy in Skype to choose an image and save it 
as a .jpg file. So what you want is there.

    I expect you want to set things up so when there is motion in the 
scene you start saving pictures. The software to detect motion will be 
tricky :-)
