Use one of the LiveCD's that I pointed to:
http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page
    http://www.sysresccd.org/System-tools
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

Both good & you just boot from them directly.

You can also put System Rescue on a usb stick.
