Installing new kernel over compiled one

Hi,

I have compiled a kernel some months ago due to a misconfiguration in
the ACER Bios. Well this is working perfectly now. It is : *2.6.24.3.*

Now I have warnings about new kernel *2.6.22.15* via Update Manager. If
I update, will it remove my old kernel (2.6.24.3) ? How can I manage
this problem, knowing that I want to keep 2.6.24.3 and if possible, do
not be alerted by new kernel software.

I am open to any suggestions, but I know that I will have to recompile
it one day again, with more security patches included. I just would like
an easy answer before taking the time to do it.

My GRUB (menu.lst truncated) :

timeout 3
