Correct except for this caveat: If I do cntl-alt-F1
during boot before X starts, I get tty1 as
expected,during the printout, but can's swaitch back
to X,tty 7, or any other tty. If I wait til X starts,
just blank screen and can't get back to X or anything.

Sorry but no. Have Nvidia 6150 on MB and am using PCIE
card Nvidia GeForce 7300 GS] (rev a1) on nvidia MB.
