Not sure if I understand it correctly, but did you use the HD instead of a 
CD? That can't work because the CD is made in a way to run from a CD 
drive. CD and HD are quite different for Linux. Burn the iso file onto a 
CD and it should work. See here for instructions if you aren't sure how
