That driver looks pretty old - the problem might be that it's not been
updated for the latest kernels. What errors are you getting?
Also, not sure if this will be of help, but you might have a look at:

and see if that is of any use. I would imagine that there are other
Ubuntu users that use your ISP and modem type, so it might be worthwhile
checking in some of the local mail lists/forums.
