Fwd: problems with VLC and Totem playing image on external monitor

Thanks for the info! I ran the sudo apt get install grandr and it seemed
to install it, but I could not find a menu item for it so I reinstalled
using Synaptic Package Manager (sounds like some sort of brain function!)
and it reinstalled it but I still can't find where in the menus it placed
grandr. Did your installation yield a menu item or does one have to run it
from terminal?

I have not tried to switch back and forth between external and internal
monitor yet. Will let you know how your solution worked.
