hello noop

i tried these steps though most of the time the error saying that
ttf.opensymbol is nto configured did come.

in the recovery mode i had the following options for recovery log in

 Ubuntu 8.04, kernel 2.6.24-19-386
Ubuntu 8.04, kernel 2.6.24-19-server
Ubuntu 8.04, kernel 2.6.24-19-generic
Ubuntu 8.04, kernel 2.6.24-18-386
Ubuntu 8.04, kernel 2.6.24-18-server
Ubuntu 8.04, kernel 2.6.24-18-generic

i went with the first option Ubuntu 8.04, kernel 2.6.24-19-386 and fixed
xfix then the normal boot. but it only returned to the text mode log in.
then i tried startx but it returned an error

xinit: connection reset by peer (error 104)
xinit: No such process

???
