Yep!!

DON'T!

I tried on my work laptop that has Vista, and killed it. Works fine on XP
but Vista is not quite so friendly with auto-execute files of this sort.

I would suggest you use vista own tools to shrink the partition that windows
is on and simply use a std install cd to install Ubuntu on the new partition
you have created. It's extremely easy to do.

Check out

Scroll down about half way to "editing vista partitions" and follow your
nose!

Worst case, you should still have a bootable vista OS.

Kind Regards

Subject: Install Ubuntu from Windows

Anyone have any experience using WUBI? http://wubi-installer.org/index.php

I found this article
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Install-Ubuntu-from-Windows-in-3-Steps-Withou
t-Using-a-CD-61304.shtml and it seems almost too easy, too good to be true.
I took the plunge and I'm using it to install on an XP box that isn't
mission critical. But I'm thinking about using it to install ubuntu on a
friends new Vista laptop. Any gotcha's I should know about? Thanks in
advance.

Bob
