Sorry, forgot to add: the *only* samba packages that you need installed
via Synaptics or cli to run samba between all of your local Ubuntu
systems and have them recognized in Nautilus are:

libscmblient
samba
samba-common
smbclient

Nothing else. No smbfs, nothing.
