I think part of the problem comes about when someone pokes a dog with a 
stick, the dog bites them, and then they turn around and accuse the dog 
of being vicious.

You may have taken a sensible route to solve the problem, but you 
injected much snark into your replies to the list thereafter and then 
act as if your only recourse is to play the victim and claim you have to 
act like a jackass to save face.  What irritated me was that as far as I 
can tell you injected meaning into my replies that weren't even there 
and insulted me for it.
