Gutsy using only one CPU on dual core?

I *think* the -386 flavor only supports one core. You probably want to
install the -generic flavor and reboot. To ensure that you receive all
kernel updates, don't install the kernel image directly, but install the
metapackage linux-image-generic instead, which will always depend on the
newest kernel. 

If you also want to use the restricted modules, install linux-generic,
which will always depend on the newest linux-restricted-modules-generic,
in addition to linux-image-generic.
