There is certainly nothing to be said against improving the boot
feedback, far from it. All I'm saying (whatever Steve and Bart seem to
read into it) that scrolling cryptic messages by default is not an
improvement, and then I somewhat overstated my opposition against an
option ;) Not so much because of the actual option, but because of how
easily the "gimme an option" card was used, when we just went through
all that during the Gnome 1.x -> 2.x transition (at which time _all that
can be said really was said. That's why I linked to the Havoc Pennington
essay).
