Boot screen: Quiet or not?

I agree with you completely....   but is there a way (like there is in SuSE), 
to hit a button (ESC?) and cause the messages to appear from that pretty 
screen?

There may be but I don't know what it is.   *That* is all that is needed and 
then I think most people could live with it.
