Here's a couple of things I'd check out:

1) Check under /etc/udev/rules.d/60-libpisock.rules to see if your vendor
/ group code is represented in the list of devices. If not, you may need
to add it.
2) Check also for the following line in 60-symlinks.rules:

# Create /dev/pilot symlink for Palm Pilots
KERNEL=="ttyUSB*", ATTRS{product}=="Palm Handheld*|Handspring *|palmOne   
     Handheld", \
                                        SYMLINK+="pilot"

I think that's what I had to add to make it work properly. I don't recall
what it was previously. If memory serves, the ATTRS{product}=="blah blah"
string didn't have my device in there.
