Thanks for the reply, Craig:

1. No. It's not installed. (I've noted that problem when experimenting
with syncs to Evolution back in the day.)

2. Yes, I push the hot-sync button on the E2 first, then wait, oh, a
couple of seconds before activating hot sync in Jpilot. Worked on
Fiesty...

And as for No. 3, the discussion on the Ubuntu forum has readers setting
up a 10-custom.rules in /etc/udev/rules.d. I've done that as well...to
no effect.
