fax program?

I dont understand why people even bother with fax machines anymore...
We have scanners, printers, email, and internet - why use such a horribly
slow technology?

I spent over a year at my previous job converting them from their ancient
dependance on the fax machine. But, even though I got most of them using
electronic equivelents, they still "had" to use the fax machine every once
and awhile...and convincing some of the vendors to stop sending faxes took
months. (even when those businesses HAD online solutions.)
