fax program?

hi folks,

I am occasionally asked to fax something somewhere, but I don't use this
outdated technology anymore...  I'm wondering whether anyone knows of
some kind of service allowing one to send faxes directly from the
computer, preferably a free service using Free software that works with
ubuntu.  Just looking fora suggestion, I guess.  thanks,
