Broken system! need help

I removed the broken or uncompleted DVD and used mine and another with the
7.10 desktop. None work on the computer. I am sure that the 6.10 and
7.10ubuntu dvd that I tried works because they work on other
computers. So I
have no idea how to reinstall. I tried ssh but there is no route to host,
certainly because the half-burned dvd deleted it. Right now I am stuck with
the message and no way to make the computer accept any DVD which are usually
working.
Thanks
Meg
