ubuntu 7.10 live cd does not boot on new system

it does try to boot but gets an error. Let me find some more info from the
screen:
For xubuntu live cd, the kernel loads, the logo appears on the screen, then
the following is written:
BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian ...) Build-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
(initramfs) _
The program is waiting at a prompt.
The boot cd had been tested for problems.
Ideas?
