I know you've already said that an external mouse isn't an option for 
you.. but I wanted to point out that a little wireless *optical* mouse 
can easily be used on your lap in a pinch for much less effort than any 
mouse pad ever desinged (assuming you have a lap... much apologies if, 
you know, you don't.)
