Default SMB.CONF?, Ubuntuguide Confusion?

No, but will give it a try. I've got the default
smb.conf now but had to fix a broken samba by
reinstalling all the packages that are part of samba.
Apt does not seem to handle the depends very well.
BTW, I thought "aptitude purge" was supposed to remove
everything including config files as well, but it
didn't.

Yeah, because I'm a persistent old cuss not because it
just works like most of Ubuntu does.

Yep, it's mostly just samba I'm having trouble with
and the manuals(useless for me). I actually solve most
of my apt problems on my own and config issues also.
I'll follow NoOp's lead and get everything setup and
retry smbmount and "map network drives" with all
defauls settings, see what happens and report back on
results.
