Looks like they might be a conflict there of some sort, although I'd
have thought it would have been test with BOINC as it's rather popular.
I wonder if it is try to index the data file which is constantly being
updated.
One thing I've noticed is that it always says there's 5.8 hours to go
when you first start it or tell it to reindex. This even occurs on a
fresh install of ubuntu where the only thing to index is the example folder.

I had a quick search on BOINC and SETI, but didn't find anything. I
haven't had a good look through yet but, there is a post on forcing
Non-Idle-Hours index update.
I would imagine quite a few problems will surface now it's loose in the
'real' world.
