Ubuntu dual boot issue

Hi, My name is Brian and I've switched to Ubuntu 7.10 from Windows XP Media Edition. I am not very good at this and am trying to setup dual boot. I have loaded this but not sure I have done this correctly. I look and I have MUCH more memory than I had, had with Windows. It appears it might have also deleted everything on Windows. If there is some way I can role-back or access it again I need to know... There was very many photo's on it and alot of other things. I really need help.
