4G Memory Only Recognised 3.4G

Are you running the 32bit (i386) install of Ubuntu? If so (and you have
appropriate hardware, i.e., Intel Core2Duo, Pentium D or AMD Athlon or
Athlonx2 64) Download and install the 64 bit version to see the full 4GB.

Hi Soo_Hyun
I think that's a left over from the old DOS days. Your missing memory would be
the approx 640K base memory. The rest is extended memory. That's how I recall
it. Someone will either correct me or expand on this
