I have just looked at Exaile and so far I like it.  It seems not to 
choke like Amarok even though they seem to use the same engine.  Tags 
are what I use to sort with.  I have my music divided by genre.  If I 
want classical or jazz or rock I have a separate smartlist for it.  That 
way when I add files they are automatically made part of the playlist.  
I can also sort by artist or album or length or any tag available.  A 
standard (non-smart) playlist will have certain favorites that don't 
fall into any broad category.

Thanks to the list for all the information, I have a few to play with now.
